WELCOME TO GROOTFONTEIN NATURE RESERVE

ACCOMMODATION

Grootfontein offers OFF-THE-GRID breakaway accommodation for couples, groups, families, corporate groups or the lone visitor who loves

solitude and space to enjoy peace and quiet.

Cellphone reception is generally terrible (ain't that great!), the rustic but spotless ablutions, showers powered by paraffin, culinary creations made on either gas stoves or open fire cooking and lights powered by the sun.

We do have a Wifi Hotspot on request or in case of emergency - otherwise we pride ourselves in keeping our guests cell phones and laptops silent for a few days.

R200 for kids under 12 and little ones under 2 stay for FREE. Midweek Specials, Group and Long Stay Discounts apply. Peak Season is the December Holidays.

The farm can sleep 40 wedding guests in shared accommodation with additional accommodation options available within the area.

Our experienced team can offer catering and project managing the wedding or perhaps you prefer to arrange the event yourselves - either way, we are happy to host your wedding and help you create the most memorable wedding suited to you both.

We offer rustic bush lodge-style accommodation where you and enjoy hiking, birding, herpetology, camping, 4x4 trails, kayaking, mountain biking... Since the farm does not have the Big 5, you are free to explore the 535ha on foot, using your own vehicle, or bring your own mountain bike.

Here you will find tranquility and a pristine, untouched Bushveld landscape that is home to 130+ species of birds, 120+ species of trees and a wonderful range of animals such as Kudu, Zebra, Giraffe, Impala, Waterbuck, Blue Wildebeast, Nyala, Bushbuck, Warthog, various small carnivores, reptiles and Leopard.

Grootfontein is OFF THE GRID which means you won’t see a screen anywhere and at the same time, your hot showers will be powered by paraffin heating, fridges are powered by gas and solar and the lights are solar-powered. Cellphone signals are mostly terrible (ain't that great!), but we do have a Wifi Hotspot on request and can accommodate business travellers that need to stay in touch with the office and their customers.

ABOUT US

WELCOME TO GROOTFONTEIN NATURE RESERVE.

Grootfontein Nature Reserve has been in the Grobler family since 1939 when it was purchased by Piet & Pattie Grobler whose love for the land began the legacy of what was to follow over the coming 80 odd years.

The farm is located in the Waterberg Mountain Range in Limpopo.   The closest town is Thabazimbi, a eco-tourism town that is malaria-free.  The town has a scenic golf course and the Marakele Animal Sanctuary is well worth a visit.

Grootfontein is 1 hour's drive from Sun City and Pilansberg National Park where you can see the Big 5 from your car.

On Grootfontein, we have embraced a carbon-sensitive footprint.  This means, you will enjoy hot showers powered by paraffin, fridges cooled by either gas or solar, lights powered by solar power and your cellphone can be charged by solar as well.

Cellphone signals are mostly terrible (ain't that great!), but we do have a Wifi Hotspot on request and can accommodate business travellers needing to stay in touch with the office and their customers.
